So Dak: Day 2

On Thursday, Chadd found this really fun place for little kids. It was rated #1 attraction and it was free. It was called Storybook Island. There were so many neat slides and swings of different story book characters. I loved this park and wish we had one in Minneapolis. We were trying to find a balance between entertaining a 14 year old and a one year old. Ashly said she had a fun time on the trip so I think we were successful!

Three little pigs.

Noah's Ark.

Ice cream cone slide.

Christopher went on the train all by himself. He was really excited and was "driving" for the first part of the ride. We walked with the train and then when it took off for it's final stretch he lost sight of us and started bawling!

Yogi Bear.

101 Dalmations.

Real live goats.

Drinking fountain.

This picture is dedicated to Grandma Symons: Doesn't that bring back memories??? Ashly and Barney (she even matches him, weird!). Ashly's favorite character growing up was Barney!

Nice try, not until you're 16!

Just like dad's motorcycle!

Our next stop that day was Custer State Park. It was AMAZING to see this many buffalo at one time. These buffalo were right up by the visitor center and they didn't mind being with all the people and cars. Wow!

We sat at a picnic table and had a snack and watched the buffalo for awhile.

They crossed the street at their own leisure whether you were on the road or not!

This is how close we got to them.

The last thing we did on Thursday was go to the Flintstone Theme Park. Here we are riding the train there.

Anybody need $1000???

Here we are getting a ride in Barney Rubble's car.

We came to the conclusion that Christopher LOVES slides the best!

Yabadabado!!!

  1. Wow, looks like you all enjoyed Storybook Island as much as I always do! Isn't it great? Did you see the dinosaurs way up on a hill in Rapid City? That is a great free park as well. Love that!

Also, how much fun is the Custer State Park Wildlife Loop - did you run into the burros? They are always a hoot. Yes, the buffalo have the right of way in our state...they aren't shy about crossing while you are leisurely enjoying a drive...but that's so much fun.

Glad to see you enjoyed your time in SD.
