Taggy Blanky

Christopher is starting to hold onto things so I give him his taggy blankets. He seems to really like them. He also likes his little ducky toy mommy bought him! Today when I picked Christopher up from daycare, Marcia (the afternoon daycare worker) said he was so good. He didn't even cry today! Wow! I think he really likes it there. When I dropped him off he was smiling so big for Melanie (the morning gal). I think he just loves those gals that give him so much attention.
Ashly is mowing the lawn this year for the first time. She only has one more week of school left. Yipee!
We are off to Wisconsin Dells tomorrow after work and will return on Monday. It'll be our first big trip with the little guy. We are all excited. Our tradition has been to go every year during Ashly's spring break, but we didn't go this year since Christopher was brand new.
On Tuesday, I went to the Twins Game with my friends Caron and Laura. I hadn't been to a game in about 3 years. It was fun...we had drunk people behind us and the girl sitting right behind us caught a foul ball. We ducked!!

Borrowing Chadd's work laptop

We are borrowing a laptop computer from Chadd's work until we buy a new one, so I thought I would sneak a blog entry in here and there. The week started out with an emergency root canal for me. Ick. Then my face continued to swell and I was in pain and on antibiotics (better now!) Then Ashly finished track last week. And Chadd, Christopher and Ashly attended Ashly's Honor Roll Banquet on Tuesday while I headed to Fargo to be with my family. Chadd and I went out to eat and bowling on Friday night with our neighbors while Ashly babysat Christopher, and the neighbor's 3 and 5 year old. Fun was had by all. Chadd went to Wisconsin on Saturday and rode ATV trails with his friend while Christopher and I stayed home (I was looking forward to a day at home finally!) and Ashly was out and about with her friends. We look forward to a fun Memorial Day tomorrow at lake Minnetonka....and Mom, I love you and hope you feel better. I look forward to you having some lemonade! We all love you!

Our computer is not working at home. So, it'll be awhile before I'll be posting anything. Stay tuned. I'll make up for lost time as soon as I can!

More Water Fun

Christopher enjoyed another new experience this weekend. Ashly and him went in our hottub downstairs. He seemed to like it. He was very content and we had the jets on low. Nice, warm water was relaxing I'm sure.

Swimming

Grandma, along with Ashly, Brittany, and Jordyn, took Christopher swimming for his first time the weekend of the baptism at the Country Inn Suites. He didn't have much of a reaction, just kinda wondering what was going on. But he didn't cry, so he must have thought it was all right.

Playtime

Daycare is going really good for Christopher. They say he is a good boy and hasn't had any problems yet. Work is going good for me. Ashly is still enjoying track right now. School is almost done! Wow...another year gone by!

Daddy's boy

Here's some of Chadd's favorite things...his "toy" and his son. Soon Christopher will be tearing around on that thing, right!

Well, I went back to work. Nothing really changed. It's the same as I left it so I had no trouble jumping right in. It's like "riding a bike" as they say. Yep, only back three days and I've already been yelled at by doctors and nurses...just like old times. Nothing I did personally, they just like to treat the lab like crap. Just remember that, if you are ever in the hospital, the lab staff is just doing their job, we aren't well respected. I was also sad that it was the second Mother's Day in a row I had to work.

I took Christopher to the grocery store this morning and half way through he started crying, so I tried to hurry, which isn't fun. I don't like when everyone is staring at me. So I hurried and once I got all the groceries on the conveyer belt I took him out of the carseat since he was crying so hard he was coughing and choking. He settled down somewhat, but then came the task of bagging the groceries. I decided to try and hold him while I did that, and the lady next to me bagging her groceries came up to me and offered to bag my groceries for me. I obviously couldn't refuse because it was clear that I could use some help. I have to be honest, I didn't like the attention and I didn't like everyone staring at me because I'm paranoid they are thinking bad things of me, but I was dissappointed that none of the Cub workers that were just standing in their aisle (being 1130am on a Monday, the store was not real busy), not one of them offered to help me, they just stared. I don't want to be the "person that needs help" but I kinda did. Well, I'll probably never see that lady again that helped me, but I appreciated it! So thank you, whoever you are, I'll pass it on.

Yummy Lamb

Christopher was playing on his activity mat, and his hand touched the stuffed animal lamb on his side and he grabbed it and just had to taste it. Can we say he's tried lamb now?

Day two at daycare

Day two at daycare went really well! Christopher was smiling and laughing when I dropped him off, he was smiling and laughing when I picked him up. A good sign in my book! They went on a stroller ride today and he fell asleep. Cute!

We got a letter in the mail and on May 19th we are invited to the Honor Roll Banquet for Ashly maintaining a GPA of 3.7 or above in 7th grade. We are really proud of her. Great job Ashly, we are happy to celebrate with you!

First day of daycare

Daycare went really good today. I woke Christopher up a little before six this morning. He was smiley, he got to say good bye to dad before he went to work...and then we were off to daycare! He was the first infant there. And he smiled for Melanie, the morning daycare lady. I brought in tons of diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, nuks, and extra clothes. I picked him up a little before 1pm. They said he did excellent. He took one really long nap and ate two bottles while he was there. His first nap he slept in the crib swaddled up. They said he fussed a little, but they went back and gave him his nuk, then he fell asleep. Then when I picked him up he was sleeping all swaddled up in the swing. What a good boy! They mentioned again today that Ashly is welcome to come and help and play with the daycare kids this summer. So far, I love this daycare. That makes going back to work so much easier! Chadd will be doing the morning drop-offs once I start work since I have mostly early shifts. And I will do the pick-ups! I have loved my maternity leave and I feel so lucky that I got to spend all that time with my little boy. Now we are entering a new stage in our lives...back to the real world! I feel good about going back to work now and am ready for it.

Christopher's Baptism

We had Christopher's baptism on Sunday. Thanks to all of our family for coming and making it a special day. A special thanks to Mike and Cindy for being Christopher's godparents.
